This is my second visit to La metairie des Vergers in Watronville and I WILL be back. It is a most wonderful place to stay. Everything you might think you want from accomodation is there. All the rooms are huge and tastefully furnished in old antiques. I arrived along with three others at the end of long day of motorcyling. We stayed for just the one night on this visit as we were passing through on our way back from Spain. For anyone wishing to view the battlefield sites around Verdun, this couldn't be a better place to stay. Quiet, out of the way yet so relaxing with all the tourist venues virtually on the doorstep. Monsieur and Madame Wurtz do a splendid job in running this B&B and on the evening we arrived Monsieur Wurtz ran us to a restaurant in a nearby village for a splendid fish dinner. Breakfast the following morning was fit for a king. One major point for my group was that motorcycles were stored in the barn which gave great piece of mind. Again, I cannot talk more highly of this fabulous B&B and it's owners. Gite de France give it 3 ears of corn. We, Lloyd, Sam, Philipe and Greame salute you for your hospitality and award you 5 ears of corn and 5 stars.

While searching for a place to stay near the Verdun Battlefields, we came across this special find on the internet. It is located outside of the city of Verdun in the small village of Watronville, just 15 km from the battlefield sites. If you want something outside of the city in quiet village, this place is for you. The owners, who are retired and just operate their B&B, speak just enough English to help you get settled and to suggest places to see in the area. The rooms are all large and furnished in antiques. The bed was very comfortable and each room has new modern bath facilities. Breakfast includes home made jams, in addition to the usaual French B&B fare. The owners will also provide dinner for an additional fee, which for us was a great decision. Excellent local specialities with wine. You couldn't ask for a nicer couple or a more comfortable and quite place to spend a few days while exploring the Verdun area.
